Today, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, the Due Process of Law Foundation (DPLF), UNAM’s Observatory of the Inter-American System of Human Rights, the Interamerican Association for Environmental Defense (AIDA), and the Institute for Constitutional Studies of the State of Querétaro presented an infographic that summarizes Advisory Opinion OC-23/17 on environment and human rights. Issued on November 15, 2017 by the Inter-American Court, OC-23/17 establishes a historic precedent on human rights protections in the continent.
The objective of this infographic is to make available to the stakeholders of the Inter-American System the main standards developed by the Inter-American Court regarding the obligations of States regarding the environment and their relationship with human rights. The infographic is available on the web pages and social networks of the institutions that promoted the project, in the four official languages of the Organization of American States: Spanish, English, French, and Portuguese.
We hope that this joint initiative will be useful for all stakeholders and subjects interested in the subject and that it contributes to the full validity and guarantee of economic, social, cultural and environmental rights in the region.
